Sock Drawer

My Sock Drawer

One of my summer projects for 2010 is to learn to knit socks ... and LIKE doing it! :) i have 'discovered' the Magic Loop method and must confess that it really is a rather pleasant 'adventure' into this new area of knitting! At this moment i'm using KnitPick needles in 32" and/or 40" lengths, and so far, so good! i'm even pondering the option of knitting 2 at once so as to avoid the dreaded Second Sock Syndrome! ;)
my 1st pair is knit using Patons Kroy Socks FX - Camo Colors. and yes, it's wool and YES it's averaging 90 degrees right now! yea well .... i've got one complete and am well on the way with the 2nd one!

i chose the Undulating Rib pattern from the Best of Interweave Knits Favorite Socks book, 3 skeins of yarn and size 3 needles.

It's June 25th and I FINISHED MY 1st PAIR OF SOCKS!!!!

BUT ..... guess who started on pair #2???

KnitPicks - Gingerbread House - size 2 needles - Cable Rib Socks from the Best of Interweave Knits Favorite Socks book. I have learned in this journey that i prefer the hourglass heel and toe and found an AMAZING tutorial, complete with charts that take ALL the thinking and calculating out of it .... Get ready to be amazed!

July 22nd .. and my 2nd pair's done!!!!

#3:  Debra Norville's and check out the cute little 9" circulars i found!
i decided to try a toe up beginning and did just straight knitting for the foot of the sock and once i turned the heel (using the chart from, i switched to a modified ribbing pattern:

Row 1:  Knit 2, Purl 3
Row 2:  Knit 2, Purl 1, Knit 1, Purl 1

To bind off i found an easy knit picot edge.

Now to finish sock #2!
